8:1

The Lighting of the Manurah

And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 spake unto Mushah, saying,
8:2
"Speak unto Aharon, and say unto him, When thou lightest the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light over against the candlestick."
8:3
And Aharon did so; he lighted the lamps thereof over against the candlestick, as 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 commanded Mushah.
8:4
And this work of the candlestick was of beaten gold, unto the shaft thereof, unto the flowers thereof, was beaten work: according unto the pattern which 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 had shewed Mushah, so he made the candlestick.
8:5

The Consecration of the Lawiym

And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 spake unto Mushah, saying,
8:6
"Take the Lawiym from among the children of Yashar'al, and cleanse them."
8:7
"And thus shalt thou do unto them, to cleanse them: Sprinkle water of purifying upon them, and let them shave all their flesh, and let them wash their clothes, and so make themselves clean."
8:8
"Then let them take a young bullock with his meat offering, even fine flour mingled with oil, and another young bullock shalt thou take for a sin offering."
8:9
"And thou shalt bring the Lawiym before the tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt gather the whole assembly of the children of Yashar'al together:"
8:10

The Laying on of Hands

"And thou shalt bring the Lawiym before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄: and the children of Yashar'al shall put their hands upon the Lawiym:"
8:11
"And Aharon shall offer the Lawiym before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 for an offering of the children of Yashar'al, that they may execute the service of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄."
8:12
"And the Lawiym shall lay their hands upon the heads of the bullocks: and thou shalt offer the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering, unto 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄, to make an atonement for the Lawiym."
8:13
"And thou shalt set the Lawiym before Aharon, and before his sons, and offer them for an offering unto 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄."
8:14

The Separation from the Qahal

"Thus shalt thou separate the Lawiym from among the children of Yashar'al: and the Lawiym shall be mine."
8:15
"And after that shall the Lawiym go in to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt cleanse them, and offer them for an offering."
8:16

The Law of the Substitute

"For they are wholly given unto me from among the children of Yashar'al; instead of such as open every womb, even instead of the firstborn of all the children of Yashar'al, have I taken them unto me."
8:17
"For all the firstborn of the children of Yashar'al are mine, both man and beast: on the day that I smote every firstborn in the land of Mitzrayim I sanctified them for myself."
8:18
"And I have taken the Lawiym for all the firstborn of the children of Yashar'al."
8:19
"And I have given the Lawiym as a gift to Aharon and to his sons from among the children of Yashar'al, to do the service of the children of Yashar'al in the tabernacle of the congregation, and to make an atonement for the children of Yashar'al: that there be no plague among the children of Yashar'al, when the children of Yashar'al come nigh unto the sanctuary."
8:20

The Execution of the Word

And Mushah, and Aharon, and all the congregation of the children of Yashar'al, did to the Lawiym according unto all that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 commanded Mushah concerning the Lawiym, so did the children of Yashar'al unto them.
8:21
And the Lawiym were purified, and they washed their clothes; and Aharon offered them as an offering before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄; and Aharon made an atonement for them to cleanse them.
8:22
And after that went the Lawiym in to do their service in the tabernacle of the congregation before Aharon, and before his sons: as 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 had commanded Mushah concerning the Lawiym, so did they unto them.
8:23

The Age of Service

And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 spake unto Mushah, saying,
8:24
"This is it that belongeth unto the Lawiym: from twenty and five years old and upward they shall go in to wait upon the service of the tabernacle of the congregation:"
8:25
"And from the age of fifty years they shall cease waiting upon the service thereof, and shall serve no more:"
8:26
"But shall minister with their brethren in the tabernacle of the congregation, to keep the charge, and shall do no service. Thus shalt thou do unto the Lawiym touching their charge."
