5:1

The Unification of the Kingdom and the Capture of Tziyon

Then came all the tribes of Yashar'al to Dawid unto Chabrun, and spake, saying, "Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh."
5:2
"Also in time past, when Shaul was king over us, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Yashar'al: and 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Yashar'al, and thou shalt be a captain over Yashar'al."
5:3
So all the elders of Yashar'al came to the king to Chabrun; and king Dawid made a league with them in Chabrun before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄: and they anointed Dawid king over Yashar'al.
5:4

The Mathematical Span of the Reign

Dawid was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.
5:5
In Chabrun he reigned over Yahudah seven years and six months: and in Yarushalayim he reigned thirty and three years over all Yashar'al and Yahudah.
5:6

The Conquest of the Yebusite Stronghold

And the king and his men went to Yarushalayim unto the Yebusites, the inhabitants of the land: which spake unto Dawid, saying, "Except thou take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not come in hither:" thinking, "Dawid cannot come in hither."
5:7
Nevertheless Dawid took the strong hold of Tziyon: the same is the city of Dawid.
5:8
And Dawid said on that day, "Whosoever getteth up to the gutter, and smiteth the Yebusites, and the lame and the blind, that are hated of Dawid's soul, he shall be chief and captain." Wherefore they said, "The blind and the lame shall not come into the house."
5:9
So Dawid dwelt in the fort, and called it the city of Dawid. And Dawid built round about from Millo and inward.
5:10
And Dawid went on, and grew great, and 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 Alahiym of hosts (Tzebaoth) was with him.
5:11

The Alliance with Tyre

And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to Dawid, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons: and they built Dawid a house.
5:12
And Dawid perceived that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 had established him king over Yashar'al, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Yashar'al's sake.
5:13

The Royal House in Yarushalayim

And Dawid took him more concubines and wives out of Yarushalayim, after he was come from Chabrun: and there were yet sons and daughters born to Dawid.
5:14
And these be the names of those that were born unto him in Yarushalayim; Shammua, and Shobab, and Natan, and Shalumoh,
5:15
Ibhar also, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Yaphia,
5:16
And Aliyshama, and Eliada, and Eliphalet.
5:17

The Philistine Resurgence and the Valley of Rephaim

But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed Dawid king over Yashar'al, all the Philistines came up to seek Dawid; and Dawid heard of it, and went down to the hold.
5:18
The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
5:19

The Inquiry of the Oracle

And Dawid inquired of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄, saying, "Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand?" And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 said unto Dawid, "Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand."
5:20

The Breakthrough at Baal-perazim

And Dawid came to Baal-perazim, and Dawid smote them there, and said, "𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters." Therefore he called the name of that place Baal-perazim.
5:21
And there they left their images, and Dawid and his men burned them.
5:22

The Second Campaign and the Mulberry Trees

And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
5:23
And when Dawid inquired of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄, he said, "Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees."
5:24

The Acoustic Footsteps of the Heavenly Host

"And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines."
5:25
And Dawid did so, as 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 had commanded him; and smote the Philistines from Geba until thou come to Gazer.
