13:1

The Death of Aliysha and the Aramean Oppression

In the twenty and third year of Yoash the son of Achazyahu king of Yahudah, Yehoahaz the son of Yehu began to reign over Yashar'al in Shomron, and reigned seventeen years.
13:2
And he did that which was evil in the sight of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄, and followed the sins of Yarobam the son of Nebat, which made Yashar'al to sin; he departed not therefrom.
13:3

The Furnace of Aram

And the anger of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 was kindled against Yashar'al, and he delivered them into the hand of Chaza’el king of Aram, and into the hand of Ben-hadad the son of Chaza’el, all their days.
13:4

The Cry of the Apostate King

And Yehoahaz besought 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄, and 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 hearkened unto him: for he saw the oppression of Yashar'al, because the king of Aram oppressed them.
13:5
(And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 gave Yashar'al a savior, so that they went out from under the hand of the Arameans: and the children of Yashar'al dwelt in their tents, as beforetime.
13:6
Nevertheless they departed not from the sins of the house of Yarobam, who made Yashar'al sin, but walked therein: and there remained the grove (Asharah) also in Shomron.)
13:7

The Threshing of the Army

Neither did he leave of the people to Yehoahaz but fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen; for the king of Aram had destroyed them, and had made them like the dust by threshing.
13:8
Now the rest of the acts of Yehoahaz, and all that he did, and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Yashar'al?
13:9
And Yehoahaz slept with his fathers; and they buried him in Shomron: and Yoash his son reigned in his stead.
13:10

The Reign of Yoash in the North

In the thirty and seventh year of Yoash king of Yahudah began Yoash the son of Yehoahaz to reign over Yashar'al in Shomron, and reigned sixteen years.
13:11
And he did that which was evil in the sight of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄; he departed not from all the sins of Yarobam the son of Nebat, who made Yashar'al sin: but he walked therein.
13:12
And the rest of the acts of Yoash, and all that he did, and his might wherewith he fought against Amatzyahu king of Yahudah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Yashar'al?
13:13
And Yoash slept with his fathers; and Yarobam sat upon his throne: and Yoash was buried in Shomron with the kings of Yashar'al.
13:14

The Terminal Illness of the Prophet

Now Aliysha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died. And Yoash the king of Yashar'al came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, "O my father, my father, the chariot of Yashar'al, and the horsemen thereof."
13:15

The Transfer of the Martial Frequency

And Aliysha said unto him, "Take bow and arrows." And he took unto him bow and arrows.
13:16
And he said to the king of Yashar'al, "Put thine hand upon the bow." And he put his hand upon it: and Aliysha put his hands upon the king's hands.
13:17

The Arrow of Deliverance

And he said, "Open the window eastward." And he opened it. Then Aliysha said, "Shoot." And he shot. And he said, "The arrow of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄's deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Aram: for thou shalt smite the Arameans in Aphek, till thou have consumed them."
13:18

The Limitation of Carnal Faith

And he said, "Take the arrows." And he took them. And he said unto the king of Yashar'al, "Smite upon the ground." And he smote thrice, and stayed.
13:19
And the man of Alahiym was wroth with him, and said, "Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times; then hadst thou smitten Aram till thou hadst consumed it: whereas now thou shalt smite Aram but thrice."
13:20

The Death of Aliysha and the Resurrecting Bones

And Aliysha died, and they buried him. And the bands of the Moabites invaded the land at the coming in of the year.
13:21
And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulcher of Aliysha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Aliysha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.
13:22

The Grace of the Patriarchal Oath

But Chaza’el king of Aram oppressed Yashar'al all the days of Yehoahaz.
13:23
And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 was gracious unto them, and had compassion on them, and had respect unto them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Yitzchaq, and Ya’aqob, and would not destroy them, neither cast he them from his presence as yet.
13:24

The Fulfillment of the Three Strikes

So Chaza’el king of Aram died; and Ben-hadad his son reigned in his stead.
13:25
And Yoash the son of Yehoahaz took again out of the hand of Ben-hadad the son of Chaza’el the cities, which he had taken out of the hand of Yehoahaz his father by war. Three times did Yoash beat him, and recovered the cities of Yashar'al.
